For those interested in surface exfoliation and removing fine facial hair, dermaplaning may be an option. At LUMEN in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, Marie will check your skin first and explain whether the treatment is appropriate for you, with simple advice for caring for it afterwards.

What dermaplaning involves

A sterile blade removes surface skin cells and fine vellus hair, often called peach fuzz.

It is a physical exfoliation procedure, with a different purpose and depth from microneedling or a chemical peel.

Translucent peach rose petals and small bubbles suspended in water.

Your questions answered

Questions, answered.

Will facial hair grow back thicker?

Removing hair at the surface does not change the follicle that determines its thickness. The regrowing hair may initially feel different at the cut tip.

Is dermaplaning right for acne-prone skin?

Not in every case, particularly with active or inflamed breakouts. Marie will assess your skin before recommending treatment.

Can it be combined with a peel?

Combining exfoliation methods can increase irritation. Any combination needs a separate suitability assessment and appropriate aftercare.
